WHAT IS NIGHT OF NETS?
Through the Night of Nets, you'll be part of a movement to end malaria by organizing an event to raise awareness and, when possible, inviting participants to sleep the entire night under a bed net. By raising funds to provide nets for children in need and calling on our elected leaders to take action, we'll help stop this child killer in our lifetime. Together as one movement, we hope to:
- Create awareness: Imagine the morning headlines when young people at campuses, parks, gymnasiums, and church parking lots organized and slept under bed nets to take a stand for the nearly 800,000 children dying every year from malaria.
- Protect an entire community - We will ensure every family is sleeping under bednets in the village of Twachiyanda, Zambia and then in similar communities across Zambia and neighboring Mozambique .
- Use our voices to advocate: We will petition our government leaders to do more by fulfilling their commitment to provide at least $1 billion per year to combat malaria.
You can plan your “night” for any date, but you may want to consider a time close to World Malaria Day (April 25). This is just the beginning in a long effort to help end malaria. It’s a big goal, but with your help, it is possible! |
How do I host a Night of Nets?
Because World Malaria Day is April 25, many groups will schedule their Night of Nets close to that date, but you can plan your night for any date. Hosting a successful night will take some planning and effort, but it is doable, and together, we will create a national outcry for the children and communities being threatened by malaria every day!
