Tips for Finding Your Focus this Easter Season

With Easter just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about how to make this season meaningful and memorable for your crew. Whether you’re a seasoned group leader or new to ministry, finding ways to keep your group engaged and focused during Easter can be a challenge. This is especially true for students in families who maybe only come for Christmas and Easter. But fear not! We’ve got some awesome tips and fresh ideas to help you make this Easter season one to remember.

Get Creative with Celebrations

Sure, Easter might be synonymous with chocolate eggs and bunnies, but there’s so much more to it than that. Why not organize a meaningful Easter service or prayer session where your group can reflect on the true meaning of the holiday? You could also plan a fun Easter-themed scavenger hunt or outdoor activity to get everyone involved and excited.

Rethink Tradition

While traditional Easter egg hunts and candy-filled baskets are always a hit, why not mix things up this year? Consider incorporating elements of the Easter story into your activities, like reenacting the Last Supper. (This is especially fun with middle school students…) You could also consider revisiting how some pop culture films and TV shows have presented the Easter season.

Serve Others

Easter is all about the love and sacrifice given to us by Jesus when he took up the cross. In the New Testament, we’re called to show others that same level of love and sacrifice to our neighbors. Take this opportunity to organize a service project or volunteer outing with your youth group. Whether it’s helping out at a local food bank, visiting a nursing home, or cleaning up a park, serving others is a great way to embody the spirit of Easter and make a positive impact on your community.

Focus on Faith

Amidst all the luncheons, egg hunts and festivities, don’t forget to focus on what really matters: faith. Take time to engage your youth group in meaningful discussions about the significance of Easter and what it means to be a follower of Christ. Encourage them to ask probing questions, share their thoughts, and deepen their understanding of their faith. Remember, we can also look to the disciples’ responses to the Resurrection for more inspiration on questions to ponder.

Try Something New

This Easter, why not shake things up and try something totally different with your youth group? Whether it’s hosting a themed movie night, organizing a DIY craft session, or planning a day trip to a nearby attraction, introducing new activities and experiences can inject fresh energy and excitement into your group.
