With so many different brands, styles and colors to choose from, deciding which garment to use for your group’s custom tees can be daunting – especially if it’s your first-time ordering shirts. At Uth Stuph, we use a variety of high-quality t-shirt brands, however, one brand continues to impress us, becoming our #1 recommendation to customers. This special brand is called Tultex, and their 202 Fine Jersey Unisex tee has become our go style for all our “free stuph” samples as well as our conference give-away shirts. And we’re not the only ones who have fallen for this brand: did you know Tultex was the official hoodie provider for the U.S. army during World War II? But what exactly makes Tultex so great and why should you choose it for your custom t-shirts?
Tultex Goes Beyond Boring Basic Tees
One of the many reasons we love Tultex (especially their 202 style) is that not only are the shirts super soft, they’re also available in trendy colors like teal, neo-mint and terracotta (pictured below). The solid colors of their basic unisex t-shirt are 100% ring-spun cotton, which is already a big step up in comfort compared to a basic Gildan or Delta shirt. Tultex also offers heathered versions of popular colors including heather burgundy, denim, and cantaloupe! Heathered styles are a blend of 100% ring spun-cotton and polyester with an even softer feel—for the same price! So if you’re looking for a custom tee for your youth group or mission trip crew that’s soft and stylish but don’t want (or don’t have the budget) to splurge on a brand like NLA or Bella Canvas, Tultex is a great option.

More Reasons to Love Tultex
Tultex has other benefits as well, especially when it comes to printing capabilities such as using water-based inks. Although water-based inks have risen in popularity due to their soft feel and eco-friendly benefits, they can cause problems in production depending on which garment is used. Many brands such as Delta double-dye their shirts, something you wouldn’t know until you tried to dye the garment yourself with the water-based ink. In some cases, the original dye interferes with the intended color of the water-based ink, warping it into the wrong hue. Tultex, however, always single-dyes their products, meaning that there are no hidden surprises waiting to disrupt water-based ink jobs.
Tultex also opens more avenues for t-shirt design creativity. How? Well, it is common for the shirts of other brands to have seams that run from underneath each sleeve all the way down to the hem of the shirt, limiting the printable area. Styles such as Tultex 202 have a tubular design, which means the body is a single piece with no side seam, meaning that we can print over any portion of the shirt to create a truly unique and eye-catching custom shirt for your group.
We hope you’re as pumped about using Tultex as we are! The team here at Uth Stuph is eager to help make your next order of custom tees a success, regardless of which t-shirt brand you decide to use. Click here to get a quote or call us at 800-242-9166. We can’t wait to serve you!
